The interchangeable car body pieces are attached to the wooden base with the use of a patented smart magnet system that in turn allow for the creation of a variety of vehicles. The vehicles can be further customized with the use of chalk on the car bodies (the chalk can be erased with a duster) and with personalized engraving on the bottom of the car’s base piece.
The Kickstarter campaign for Dream Car runs until April 21st. Production of the Dream Car sets is expected to begin shortly after the Kickstarter campaign has ended.
While Mario is best recognized in his usual plumber attire, Nintendo’s lovable character also tends to gain power-ups that grant him new abilities and sometimes even change his appearance. In the WiiU launch title, New Super Mario Bros. U, Mario turns into a Flying Squirrel upon eating a Super Acorn, which provided inspiration for a new plush figure (pictured above). The Flying Squirrel Mario Plush will be available in two sizes; medium and large. The medium plush measures nearly 15 inches tall and is priced at about $30 while the small plush measures 9.5 inches and is priced at roughly $17.50.

According to data compiled by the NDP group, building sets saw their sales increase a whopping 17% year over year as of September, 2012. Unfortunately, other toy categories did not fare as well. Dolls saw sales remain flat while every other category saw a decline, such as that of action figures, where sales fell 11%, or plush, where sales declined 19%.
Building sets appear to have had a stellar year thanks in part to releases such as Mega Blok’s World Of Warcraft, LEGO’s The Lord Of the Rings and Kre-O Transformers. But sales that occur this holiday season may provide a better long term perspective of what toys are hot and what toys are not.
