A number of new sets were announced this past Saturday at LEGO CON, a digital event that served as a way for LEGO announce new themes and products. Classic Castle, Classic Space, Mario, Star Wars, Avatar, BrickHeadz, Marvel, and Minecraft were some of the lines that saw new sets announcements.
Drawing on inspiration from Castle themes of yesteryear, this whopper of a set is priced $399.99. The Lion Knights’ Castle features 20 minifigures and more than 4500 pieces and will be available starting August, 1st.
Based on the 1979 set of the same name, this set features a bit over 1200 pieces, and is priced at $99.99. Four classic space minifigure, two red and two white, will be included in the set.
A number of licensed sets were also announced, with the LEGO Group’s plans to raise prices on current and upcoming sets being fully reflected in their MSRPs.
The Justifier set from the LEGO Star Wars lineup may be one of the best examples of rising prices. A set with a little more than 1000 pieces, and 4 minifigures is slated to be priced at $169.99.
Super Mario will also see a new series of character packs released. This time around, they will be blindboxed, Vidiyo style, instead of bagged, and priced at $5.99 each. Unless there is some identifying code on the box, this will likely make the series difficult or very expensive to collect.
The LEGO Avatar theme has also officially been unveiled. Similar to other Disney licensed LEGO themes though, sets will be fairly expensive, with the Toruk Makto & Tree of Souls set priced at $149.99 for a little over 1200 pieces and 4 minifigures. The LEGO Avatar theme will be available starting in October.
Other notable large set announcements included the Minecraft The Llama Village, priced at $129.99 and the LEGO Marvel Sanctum, priced at $249.99. The AT-TE walker also saw an official announcement, and is set to include 8 minifigures (including the highly anticipated Commander Cody and new Clone Gunner) for $139.99.
More modestly priced set announcements included a new LEGO mosaic set, Floral Art, which will be priced at $79.99, and the BrickHeadz FC Barcelona Go Brick Me, which will only be $19.99.
