Italian high school teacher and robotics engineer Daniele Benedettelli has created a robot out of LEGO that is capable of drawing pictures much like an artist can. Named LEGONARDO, the robot is named in honor of Leonardo da Vinci and is inspired by the book The Invention of Hugo Cabret and Pierre Jacquet-Droz and Henri Maillarde, 18th Century Swiss watch and automata makers.
LEGONARDO, a portrayer robot, utilizes the LEGO Mindstorms NXT smart brick to serve as its “brain” that operates using software program written by Mr. Benedettelli . For more information on the robot as well as to see it in action, visit LEGONARDO’s official page.
