Taking inspiration from Super Robot manga and anime, Bandai and Disney have come together to create a Chogodai King Robo Mickey & Friends. Announced on October 22nd, the component character figures of the Chogodai King Robo Mickey & Friends combine, Voltron style to form a Chogodai (super unit). There does not appear to be a back story behind the giant robot but it certainly shows that Disney is willing to be quite creative with the use of some its most prominent characters.
Standing roughly 8.6 inches tall, the chogokin (diecast) giant robot features individual component figures of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto (who also comes with a dog house). Steamboat Willie serves as the head of the giant robot, while behind each visor sits the character that the component figure is modeled after. The Chogodai King Robo Mickey & Friends is slated for a March, 2013 release will be priced at ¥13,440, or roughly $169.
