LEGO Friends Already Hitting Store Shelves

It appears that the LEGO Friends lineup has already been seen on the store shelves of Target, despite having a release date of January 1, 2012. It might be too late for the sets to show up under Christmas Trees but it is very likely that the top brass in Billund are hoping for a strong start with sales of the new theme.

LEGO Friends Figures: The Same, Yet Different

LEGO Friends will not have sets featuring minifigures, but rather, mini-dolls who stand 5 milliliters taller than the standard minifig. But, the 29 mini-dolls that will make appearances in the 2012 LEGO Friends sets all fully compatible with pretty much all existing pieces, including accessories that require the use of the standard, and ubiquitous, claw shaped hand. The 23 sets that make up the 2012 lineup will start showing up on store shelves very early next year.
